Made these for the McD's workers for St. Patrick's Day...the bosses let us hang there most mornings for a couple of hours over tea/coffee! White soda crackers with boiled brown sugar- butter poured over crackers, baked, sprinkled with chocolate chips and nuts...mmmmm good! Like a, "not so" sweet candy!
Recipe: SODA CRACKER COOKIE PIECES "INGREDIENTS: saltine crackers to fill pan, 1 cup butter 12 oz. semisweet chocolate chips and 1 cup finely chopped walnuts 1 c. packed brown sugar. DIRECTIONS: Line a 15 x 10” baking pan with *NON STICK foil() foil is an IMPORTANT part of recipe). Line the pan with soda crackers. In medium saucepan, melt butter. Add the brown sugar & cook stirring it until it dissolves. Bring to a boil and cook about 3 minutes, stirring constantly. Immediately pour mixture over the soda crackers. Or for microwave melt butter and brown sugar for 2 min. Stir & cook for 2 more min. stirring every 30 seconds. Pour gently over crackers. Bake 350o 7-10 min. until bubbly. Remove from oven. Immediately sprinkle mini chocolate chips over the hot cookies when removing from oven. Let set for a couple of 3-5 minutes. Spread the melted chocolate chips evenly over base. Sprinkle with nuts & press in lightly. Let cool completely, then break into pieces. *Reynolds wrap release foil written on pkg.
