I see that David chose the 9 oz and not the 72 oz steak, your LO tells a great story! You're always so good at matching the stickers to your story & photos.
That is some contest!! I would not even think of attempting it!! I wonder if anyone has ever won?? Great way to photo journal a story! Doggie bag to go please!!
I've read about the 72 oz steaks. This is a great PL page. This is very inspirational for someone who hadn't done PL to see different ways to do them. Thanks for the ideas.
Oh, my, that's a lot of steak! I love the use of the brochure on your page. I love your journaling tag with the arrow pointed at the photos. Love your style.
Such a fun project life page! I've wanted to try these and am such a chicken! LOVE your page and all your cute photos and stories! Does book 5 mean you're up to 5 books read for 2018 at that point? I could go to GR and confirm that.... LOL Miss you, my seester!
Ummm, wow! Now I love a good steak, but there is no chance in all the world that I could be successful with that amount! I think David is the smart one of the bunch! Love the added rules of the contest!
ugh!! That's enough steak to feed even my family 2x over (11 people at each meal). Just the thought of it makes me cringe, but that's partly because I'm not much of a steak person to begin with. This is a great page, though! Love the card in the top left.
It's hard to imagine just how BIG 72 oz is, but think about 5 pounds of meat - enough to feed 9 people an 8oz portion. They have it prominently on display at a chill counter when you walk in and it's a monster sized piece of impressive. On the up side, they DO know how to cook a great steak. :-) It's a fun, campy, and definitely touristy spot. Great page to document a fun destination! I'm hungry now. But not for 72 ounces worth.
Did he try the rattlesnake bites? Those are QUITE excellent. We eat here whenever we head west. I have family in Amarillo, and this place is kind of a day drive for us... It's pricey, but it's a necessary part of the route 66 experience. LOL
Great way to use up those 3x4 pockets with photos! I will have to remember this place. Love the shot of the road signs! And how this flows with the traditional page you did to accompany it!
I like how you really think about picture perspective (and if you don't, I'm totally jealous that you can do it without thinking!). Super cool topic - I can't believe they tapped out so early. This is a super fun story and providing the rules of the steak eating is so interesting. This is awesome!
Yee haw! I've been to this restaurant several times, but have never gotten around to eating that 72 ounce steak, lol! Fun layout - I like how you included the contest rules on the page.
Oh my gosh...we stopped here for dinner on our way from Oregon to Florida. How funny when you recognize some place you have been. How smart you were to get the plate full and empty. I will have to remember to do that.
Recognize this place - its outside Amarillo. If you get the 72 ounce steak and clean your plate, including sides, its free. Some people have done it too. There is also a big Texan cowboy statue that you can see from the interstate. We were flying over once and getting close to landing and could see the statue from the air! I love this page. I love the way the steak picture is divided in half and the after plate is divided in half. I'm sure your husband did not leave the table hungry!
I understand that feeling you had with your DH gone. My dh had been with the same company for 27 years and was always chosen to be the wire team manager/head on acquisition inventory trips. The shortest time he was away was 1 week and the longest he was away was 3 1/2 weeks. On that trip, he came home to the kitchen being remodeled! LOL I had to channel my anxiety somewhere! I love looking through your weekly spreads!
I like the large boxes at the top left and lower right - Gives it good size variety. I really do like the way you put in photos of new foods you try - so interesting. I need to find and try new things but they just don't come to Ocala very often, or maybe I don't look hard enough! But at least you have inspired me to look for them!
As soon as I saw Route 66 I thought of the movie Cars...even before seeing the image you included on this page. I love your border doodles and that washi tape was a fabulous touch! I am sure your son will appreciate this page to really remember this road trip.
OMG how much of a Disney dork am I that the first thing I thought of when I saw this page (before even reading your journaling) was "Hey, that looks like Radiator Springs in Cars!" Gaah... I LOVE this historical story you included here in the page and how you kept the embellishment simple. What a FUN trip that must have been! Some day.... *sigh*
This is so cool and I just love the connection to Disney's Cars! I knew a lot of the Route 66 landmarks had made their way into the movie, I just hadn't realized that Ramone's was one of them!
What an interesting place. We want to take the Route 66 trip someday. Well done on the journaling. It was informative and well written. I learned something!!!
I love those old Route 66 places - gas stations, restaurants, motels, etc.! Really like the random mix of patterned papers and washi you used - works surprisingly well together! I can't ever seen to pull that off.
12x12 Scrapbook Layout Side 2 of my Project Life Week 10 Husband's Road Trip Edition
Journaling/Hand Written: "Though David didn't take the challenge, he said a few guys did (see photo far right) but that despite their obvious enthusiasm, they started tapping out about 15 minutes into it!"
Journaling/Typed: 1.Entire meal must be completed in one hour. If any of the meal is not consumed (swallowed)…YOU LOSE! 2.Before the time starts, you will be allowed to cut into the steak, and take one bite. If the steak tastes good and is cooked to your satisfaction, we will start the time upon your acceptable approval. The time will not stop, and the contest is on, so make SURE before you say “yes.” 3.Once you have started you are not allowed to stand up, leave your table, or have anyone else TOUCH the meal. 4.You will be disqualified if anyone assists you in cutting, preparing or eating of your meal. This is YOUR contest. 5.You don't have to eat the fat, but we will judge this. 6.Should you become ill, the contest is over… YOU LOSE! (Please use the container provided as necessary.) 7.You are required to pay the full amount up front; if you win we will refund 100%. 8.You must sit at a table that we assign. 9.If you do not win the steak challenge, you are welcome to take the leftovers with you. 10.No consumption or sharing of the leftovers is allowed in the restaurant once the contest is over. 11.If you fail to complete the challenge, you must pay the full $72 dollars.
