This is my Mom at around the time she graduated from high school. She was beautiful and outgoing and everyone loved her. It must have been the fashion to not smile for photos at the time (early 1950s) because my mother was always smiling. She looks so serene in this photo.

This is actually the very first 12 x 12 layout that I have made. I have always done mini-albums in the past. Seeing all the gorgeous layouts on SB.com inspired me to gice it a try and I have some fabulous family photos I would like to do. I think I might have gone overboard on flowers this time- particularly in the lower left corner, but I stuck them down with 3-d matte gel so I couldn't make any adjustments. I am sure I will get used to this larger format.

I made the name bar with a Prima Iron Orchid mold and paper clay. I painted it with Finnabair butterfly spells, Inklingz Mochchino, and finished Finnabair Old Silver wax. See detail in closeup photo. The paper is mostly Blue Fern Studios In The Mood, but there are also a few pieces of 49 Market. The chipboard branch is by dusty attic. The flowers are all from Wild Orchid crafts. I used a Sizzix die to cut the tags, and a Spellbinders die to cut the fern leaves. I added a few prills and micro beads (Renea Bouquets). The pearl embellishments tucked into the flower clusters are buttons. the glass cabachon is vintage from my stash.

Thanks for looking! I appreciate your comments.
