loved the story - what a great way to preserve a bit of the local history surrounding The Green Frog. Sounds like it was a real "hopping" place. Love the use of the G45 pp too.
Great minds think alike. I think I have the exact same photos from our trip to Cedar Keys. Hahaha! Keep up the good work. I can use your layouts as a guide. Hahaha! The camera paperclip was a cool accent.
Great paper choices and colors on this one and I enjoyed ready about your memories of this part of Cedar Key! I don't know what it is with Cedar Key, but I love it. Such a great place to stroll and spend a day and eat good seafood!
Using my favorite manufacturer - Graphic 45. Simple but puts the focus on the pictures and journaling. twine, Prima metal tag, Basic Grey alphas and numbers
Journaling - Dennis and I first became aware of Cedar Key, while living in south Florida in the 1980s. I remember reading an article about it in the Sunday paper. It sounded interesting so we decided to go for a long weekend during July 1985. We had a great time – found a funky little bar on Dock Street called The Green Frog and danced to “Wooly Bully” on the jukebox.
Hurricane Elena brushed Cedar Key Labor Day weekend of that year. Packing 115 mph winds, the storm churned for two days in the Gulf just 50 miles west of Cedar Key, battering the waterfront. All the businesses and restaurants on Dock Street were either damaged or destroyed, and a section of the seawall collapsed. Storm surge was 9.2 feet.
It has been over 30 years and subsequent hurricanes have hit the town since 1985. Many of the businesses that were there in 1985 were destroyed or damaged. Alas, The Green Frog was gone – though we think we found where it had been. There is another business there now. The seafood restaurants are there – though I can't be sure if they are the same ones we ate at in 1985. It was fun to come back for a day!
