This is one awesome Christmas lo! Love those poinsettias I enjoyed your story. I think I'd enjoy that tree and I too would be in charge of the lights. This is such a fun lo.
Hahaha! I love that you scrapped about this tree. It brings a fun little tiff between you and your brother when the time came to decorating....and apparently you had to do the majority of that lol. Nothing like real life memories to look back on and smile about. Fun page and awesome work. fave
I love this, and the story that goes with it. I got my first "fake" tree this year and, while it's pretty and easy to deal with, it's just not the same as the real deal.
We never had any kind of fake Christmas three growing up. I do remember these trees, and I thought they were pretty. I like your big poinsettias and pretty Christmas paper.
Such happy memories of the silver Christmas trees, which we also had back in the day. We also bought one not to many years ago for my mother as she never did get tired of it!!! So "modern" looking and chic or so we thought! But alas even going down memory lane did not last many years......it is gone again!!! And I don't have a picture to remember it by!
I like all the color and journaling combined with the black and white photos!!
Oh my gosh...I remember those awful silver trees with the color wheels. Yikes...they were ugly. I was never so glad my grandparents finally got rid of it. Hahaha! LOVE the poinsettias. They make quite the striking accent for this page. Huh? I like strip journaling but I never thought to mat it. I am going to try that!!! Thanks for inspiration.
I remember those silver trees! They were so popular back then. My best friend's family had one and I always thought it was so pretty with the colorwheel - I was mesmorized by that tree, although in our house, I was always glad we had a real tree. Her's was pretty to look at but ours was more like Christmas to me. Very cool page - love the way you did the journaling strips. I see those trees sometimes in antique malls now and they cost a fortune!
Oh my goodness. I haven't seen one of those silver trees in MANY MANY years. We had one just like that when I was growing up (Yikes - I am really showing my age!!!) Love how you did the journaling. and the pp and colors are perfect for the B/W pics.
What a great heritage/Christmas page. It must have been the new "in thing" because I remember we had one just like this around this same time period, we also had one of those color turning wheel that changed the colors of the tree as it turned. We were so happy to have a real tree again too. Great job documenting this!
Christmas 1966 or 67 and the silver tree was still around. One pic has me and our German Shepherd in it.
Journal - Another year with the silver tree- at least it is upstairs now in the living room. Guy (note - my brother) really loves this silver tree with the 2 color wheels; me - I want a real tree - or at least a fake green one.
I also journaled more on the back. My brother was really into this tree - I think he thought it was avant garde, artsy modern. I never liked it - it was just too fake for me. With the 2 color wheels it turned colors. No lights on the tree - probably a big plus for my brother since he was in charge of the lights.
