After having Sea World passes for a year and DD asking time and time again to get her face painted we finally decided to indulge her. We have a rule that we never say yes the first (second, third, ok sometimes 10th) time she asks for something. Kids are always asking for something and I don't want her to think just because she asked she gets. Its a fine line. Sometimes she gets things based on merit, some times she gets things because she earns it though effort or work (or bargain), other times we "treat" her or each other, and of course my favorite is to surprise her with something before she asks. The important thing is that I try to make an effort not to spoil her. Everyone says that only children are spoiled...not mine, if I can help it. Its hard, to say no so often, but it does make it extra nice when I finally say yes, because she knows how rare it is (and is often grateful).
