Introducing my great-nephew Drake, who is the brother to Sophie (the subject of my last layout). Drake is all dressed up for prom here and my sister sent me the picture via text.
Many of you know that I usually use an oddball object or two on most of my layouts. This one was no exception. The little plastic doohickey you see to the left of the photo came out of a thick sandwich I had at a restaurant in Wenatchee. I've had it for a long time just waiting to put it to use. When I found it in the drawer I thought, hmm, I think I can use this on Drake's layout! I wrapped it with red wire and used it for a "sign holder"! I also have been using buttons from my mom's tin for her great-grandchildrens' layouts. On this particular one I ran across those two pieces in the lower left that you see. I am pretty sure they belonged to my father and he either picked them up in Korea or Japan during the wars. They are pretty old...from the 1930s-40s. At first I thought they came off one of his uniforms but after studying them, showing them to my husband, and searching online, he, my sister and I all agree they are actually money clips. They are sterling silver and were made in Siam!! My sister said Drake is really into family history and has dug up all sorts of things, which is really cool! So, I figure he will like these clips.
The scroll piece is Woodpile from Hobby Lobby and about 1/2" thick. I heat embossed it with Ranger Liquid Platinum. Metal corners are also from HL and I used TH Pitch Black alcohol ink on them. They were silver originally. Black gem stickers are Triveni. Clock from Pinterest. The beautiful letters are K & Company Black Filigree Alphabet. Buttons from Walmart.
All of the butterflies are pictures of the real thing that I printed out from Print Shop a long time ago and fussy cut. As an afterthought, I'm not sure I should have put them on this layout but they are stuck now!
The red and black papers were in my scrap pile and are My Mind's Eye Lost & Found Christmas Holly paper (double-sided).
The gorgeous hinges on the side are Printed Beautiful Board from Reneabouquets.
Special thanks to Yvonne (Euroalien) for the metal compass from this month's PL swap!
Thank you so much for stopping by for a visit. I sure appreciate you all!!
