I watched Vicki Boutin's mixed media videos the other day and I couldn't stop thinking about my SU Watercolor crayons that I bought waaayyyy back in the mid-2000's. So I grabbed an old acrylic Cricut cutting mat protector sheet for my pigment mixing and dusted off those crayons. I'm sure that if I had Vicki's crayons the pigments would have been more vibrant and prettier, but before I invest in all that I wanted to play around and see what I could and couldn't do.
I implemented several of the techniques that she demonstrated, and I must say, I really liked the freedom of starting with a blank bg and creating a bg that is completely unique.
This pic my DH snapped at the playground of our dgd1 this past summer was perfect for this style.
Not bad for my first attempt!
