I made this journal using antique fabric from around 1920 to make the front and back covers. The colors have faded and the fabric is very soft. There are two different images on the front and the back. They are imperfectly centered because I only had a small piece of the fabric and want to get at least 1 more project out of it. The flower basket looks to be filled with ribbon roses. The back has an image of a harp. Most of the tan spots in the background are faded bits of the original design. I used Graphic 45 paper for the inside covers. The satin ribbon ties are attached under the inside covers. I used Irish linen thread and Coptic stitch to sew the signatures together. I also attached metal corners to protect covers. The finished piece feels soft and comfortable like an old friend.
