Beginning of our day at Beauvoir. Used old stash - HOTP kit - pps (except circles and journal spot), ribbon, brads, flowers. Die-cut frames from a RAK

Journal: Page 1 - We have been looking forward to our month in Biloxi. There is so much to discover amd on this first day of exploring we are going to visit Beauvoir. It sits overlooking the Gulf & was the last home of Jefferson Davis. March 20, 2017

Page 2 - Our visit begins at the Museum gift shop where we purchase our tickets - $10 each for seniors. One of the 1st things you see is a ship's bell from the Star of the West. Citadel Cadet fired on the ship as it tried to reach Fort Sumter, effectively beginning the War Between the States. The Star was captured by Confederate forces in Galveston after her historic role in Charleston Harbor. When New Orleans fell she was north of the city & was used by Confederate forces to move troops & supplies. In Grant's 1st attempt at Vicksburg, his forces were stopped at Greenwood, MS when the Star was sunk in the river which gave Vicksburg another year. After buying some postcards we walked to the house for the tour.
