What a neat take on the sketch. You even got the inky look a little bit with your watercolor hummingbird paper. I like to push myself to try new things sometimes, but in a crunch, I stick to my strengths and don't try to reinvent the wheel. To be honest, you have a lot of strengths in card making, so even if stamping isn't your thing, you aren't all that limited.
I have a standing order for hummingbirds for Mother's Day. I broke down and bought "Humming Along" by Stampin' Up. So glad I did. Since I'm not a stamper or good at coloring I decided to stamp on paper that was done like watercolor! Then I used the dies to cut it out. I used the abstract image that comes in the die as the background. It took me a little bit to figure out how to do it since the gold was thin and when it went through the xyron it would be hard to put it on without it ripping. Finally glued the gold on some plain cardstock and then cut it.
Even though the sketch showed ink I did a die cut....which is more my style!
