8.5x11 Genealogy page

This is a double page for a first cousin of my dad's that I have put off completing for a long time. First, it's harder to do one of someone you knew well. Second there's a story here. About 3 years ago, one of my researcher cousins and I salvaged three bankers boxes of Hiawatha's genealogy research out of another first cousin's barn. It was a treasure trove of findings. Letters from family, copies of (14 page!) letters he wrote to family. Notes/stories he had written down.

As you can see he served in the military during WWII. He already had a four year teaching degree and was teaching in HS when he enlisted. After that, he went on to get a MA and PhD and taught at the university level.

On the back is a salvaged story that he wrote down about my grandparents. His mother and my paternal GF were brother and sister. He explains that in 1928 when my six year old father and his 8 year old brother got the measles that my father recovered but the older son died of complications including pneumonia. My grandparents couldn't really talk about it.

Also on the back is a page of historical research about our church that he spent countless hours in the library searching microfiche and published a 100 year history of my home church. Three pages are devoted to my GGF on my mother's side and mom typed the 400 plus page book and proof read it. I just found a copy of it on Ebay and bought it! Yeah!
