Wanted to include some Biloxi history. This is about the French explored that "discovered" Biloxi. I had a picture of the plaque but you couldn't really read it. I cut out the title and the bit with the map and portrait.

Journaling: Outside the Visitors' Center by the Memorial Garden is a statue of Pierre LeMoyne D'Iberville. He visited the area in 1699. The explorer, who was looking for the mouth of the Mississippi River, was instructed by the King of France to claim the coastal region. D'Iberville sailed into Biloxi Bay & established Fort Maurepas & another colony on the East shore now the site of Ocean Springs. The word "Biloxi" means "First People" and was the name of a local tribe met by D'Iberville & his men.
