Phone camera not cooperating--journaling unclear:
We docked in Corinto, chose to take the tour to Old Leon/New Leon. Old Leon, founded in 1524, partially destroyed by volcano in 1578, and completely destroyed by earthquake in 1610, is a Unesco World Heritage site–with a stunning hilltop view of Momotombo Volcano and Lake Managua. New Leon is a colonial city, based around a central park/market and a cathedral, with reminders of the Sandinista revolution. We took a break at the new McDonald’s–but don’t drink with ice! The rides to and from the cities took us through unbelievably dry and dusty land–not what we expected.
