This was a last-minute card for my son’s birthday. I used a background I had made a long time ago and a stamp I have never used before. I didn’t really think I’d ever use the background because it is so bright with irregular coverage. However, I was happy with the way it looked with this silhouette cat.

The image is from a company that is now out of business. Their stamps were made of black rubber. When I bought a few, they came with a note saying to use Fluid Chalk Ink the first few times, and after that conditioning, other inks could be used. I have used that advice with other stamps that didn’t stamp well, and it has served me well. This stamp, however, was really hard to stamp. Without a hinged stamp positioner, I would never have been able to stamp this image. I’m glad I tried it out on plain cardstock before stamping it on the background. I had to stamp it so many times that the eyes disappeared and the body still wasn’t stamped completely. When I tried again, after the second stamping, I only reinked the body and not the face. That worked. Hopefully, it will be easier to stamp next time.
