Well documented story with insightful pieces of torn tape "holding" your page together! So happy that you had already planned on spending time in Branson which allowed you to get repairs done without too much inconvenience time wise! Scrapped perfectly!!
YIKES!!! what a shame. you did a great job documenting the story. Love the bits of washi tape and torn pp edges - sort of mimics the "fix" on the roof.
This LO is about what happened on our way into Branson. I used an old Basic Grey kit. It was one I couldn't figure out how to use - not my style of papers but when I found it I though that it would work for this LO. Distressed and inked edges. The 'documented and 'Tell it like it is' are from Echo Park; ink is Tim Holtz; all the rest Basic Grey.
This is for Good Ol' Summertime - Thanks for the Memories challenge - traveling during the summer.
Journaling: We left North Little Rock KOA on 6/20 – driving to Branson. We didn't make great time due to hills and 2 lane roads through towns. We were looking forward to getting to Stagecoach RV and setting up. Our plans were to be there for a month. We finally reached Rte 65N – a multilane highway and were making good time when all of a sudden –disaster! We were about 12 miles from the RV Park when I see something balloon up on top of the RV - I am behind Dennis driving the Toyota. I try to call Dennis but he already knows there is trouble since he felt the truck shudder. He pulled over to the side with me behind him. Getting out, his first thought is to look at the tires, thinking one or more must have blown. I get out and point to the roof; you can see part of the roof is hanging over the side! Not able to do anything but continue to the park, we go 20 mph for the last miles and finally make it. We limp into Stagecoach RV and after registering, Dennis asks for a name of someone who can come out and look at it. After we are set up, he climbs up and checks the roof – it has torn down the middle about a third of way to the bedroom a/c and underneath is particle board. If it rains we are in trouble! Calling the RV repair place, they agree to come out the next day and do a temporary repair. Rain is forecast for the day after tomorrow and without the repair our RV would be destroyed. The guy who comes out knows what he is doing and does a great job. The temporary repair will have to last for a while. We contact our insurance and find a place that can replace the roof permanently. The place is in West Branson – they can't get to it until late July or early August which will work for us since we need time to save for the deductible of $1,000. What we determined happened was that a truck of yard waste in front of Dennis threw back a sharp rock that passed over the cab and hit the edge of the roof causing a tear. Then traveling at 65 mph, wind entered the tear and caused the roof to balloon up and tear down the middle until it reached the front a/c unit. Looks like this is where we will spend our summer months.
