This is simply amazing. Mounting your scene on the board was a great idea. I love the cheesecloth and the stamped netting. So many wonderful techniques used on this project. You must have so much patience. The result is gorgeous.
This is a work of ART! There are so many gorgeous details in here.... I am mesmerized by the beautiful colors (turquoise is my favorite color) and all the lovely embellishments!
Pictures really don't do this amazing plaque justice! Its sparkles like crazy IRL and I love it!!! You did an amazing job on this lovely project Elizabeth, I just adore it. I will be hanging it up in my guest bath which has a bit of a sea theme. It was such a pleasure to swap with you and I feel so blessed to have one of your amazing creations. You used so much mixed media on this, its just over the top lovely! Thank you again my sweet friend! I will cherish this always!
Elizabeth, I cannot say this enough, but you have the most creative mind with a vision to be able to make such gorgeous pieces. This one is just amazing with all the elements used colors etc. looks like a real piece found at the shore.
Your mermaid is so pretty, I like the image you used. You made such a beautiful image pop into life with the sea shells, perils, the glitter all over the seahorse and hair and tail if perfect
This project was for the Reneabouquets August Swap hosted by Donna (Bonprof). The theme was Gifts from the Sea. I found this really cool wooden plank at Walmart and I loved how it looked weathered, like an old boat or dock.
The first thing I did was grab my cheescloth, stuck it inside my box I use for spray mists (thank you to Carri for the idea) and sprayed it with Dylusions Calypso Teal (even the name is ocean themed!). I tried to make it look like waves spraying into seafoam! Before applying that to the board, I stamped fish netting in the upper left and lower right corners using Gabrielle Pollacco's Dandelions Stamp Set which has the fish net with the set.
Products from Reneabouquets:
Beautiful Board Mermaid, anchor, seashell with pearl and border at the top, starfish, teal chunky glitter glass, lime green chunky glitter glass, Beautiful Beads in Citrus Breeze (from Carri) and other BBeads I don't remember the name of, and gold microbeads.
Lovely charms sea turtle, seahorse, ship, compass, tiny finish under the seafoam, mermaid cabochons and starfish are from Hobby Lobby, as well as the purple and teal blue Swarovski crystals.
Heavy chain also from Walmart.
Special thanks to Carri (Caletts) for the Wow! Vintage Peacock and Lilac Shimmer embossing powders, Seafoam Stickles and the Beautiful Beads I mentioned earlier. And to Jessica for the bulb pins to hang the starfish!
The starfish hanging on the jute I used alcohol inks on to color them up.
I also added a couple of shells I got at the Oregon Coast a long time ago.
