This was for the family of a young man in a neighboring congregation that recently passed away. The situation was rather ugly and very sad and I heard he was a very nice, loving and deeply spiritual young man. While I had not met him, many in my congregation had and it seemed important to make his family a card.

I had come across this style of card on pinterest a while ago and when push came to shove I thought this would be a very nice style for a sympathy card. I really hate the sallow energy of dealing with death and that somehow (from an artistic perspective) the way the charming colors of grays and other muted colors end up becoming seemingly ominous and sinister in message and color. So I really liked the idea of turning to bright colors against the virgin white. After all I believe that there is a great hope that god offers to those who have passed away and one day death will no longer be an enemy. Forgive me if I sound preachy, it's not my intention.

The silhouettes were all cut on my cricut air. The squares were inked with several colors of Lindy's starburst sprays and then cut and then "Bargelloed". Scotch mounting tape was used to give a little more depth and shadow. The card and white paper was all American Crafts cardstock in their standard "white". The cover of the card was made by taking a piece of matt board and covering it with the paper in a book binding technique. The messages were printed at home before being cut down to size.

If I missed anything please let me know and please feel free to ask any questions you might have!!! Thanks so much for looking :D
