Each year I teach my students about the imporatance of becoming a PEACEMAKER. It was a wonderful way to help them understand how one person can make a difference. Through research, with my students, I realized I had, unknowingly, taken part in a peace march in Washington D.C., twenty years earlier. At 10 years old, I witnessed the banners stitched together, that formed a ribbon, 15 miles long. I saw "freedom of speech" in action, as marchers recalled the 40th anniversary of Hiroshima. I had a little "peace" of history that I will always remember to share.
