I started out by removing the lining; a HUGE job since some was riveted in. I could not remove the rivets but was able to remove the screws. Imagine my surprise when I found out it is made of wood! Explains why it is so heavy!

When the weather permitted, I used WD40 on the latches, then used white spray primer/paint on the outside trim, handle and latches.

I purchased some all natural compressed cotton batting at Walmart and used spray on adhesive in little sections at a time since it works fast!
