Tracy Funk uses Sculpey Ultra Light, the one that is my 2nd choice. Because I haven't worked with clay or the moulds hardly at all, perhaps it takes more practice. However, The Polyform Model Air is SUPER easy and I LOVE IT! I have 10 Prima Moulds & 4 misc....perhaps I'll work more with the moulds now that I have the right clay! Glad this has helped some of you! Have a great day! Lisa
They are beautiful molds. I've never tried any. I have enough "stuff" in my Craft Palace to last me a lifetime! LOL Like you, I like the middle one the best! And ditto what Vicki said. Tracy Funk has made some BEAUTIFUL molded items in her layouts.
I have had some luck but it is difficult. Tracy Christina Funk uses Sculpey but I do not know which one, it seems like she bakes it? I need to experiment too. Thank you for the comparison!
Thanks for sharing this comparison. I bought some of the moulds and because the paper clay was so terrible I have not used them again. When you air dry the clay in the mould the back dries faster than the front which caused the dry part to curl and if you take it out of the mould at this point to turn it over so the top dries it cracked when you try to flatten it. I will try the Polyfoam model air so I haven't wasted the money I spent on the moulds. Thanks ever so much.
Like a lot of others, I did my own 'test' of different clays used in moulds. I mostly have Prima moulds and really want to use them, but found that some clays are difficult to work with and I've become discouraged. I'm working on a project that will have 6 alike moulds on it. My internet research led me in a great direction to find what I consider to be the best clay ever!! This is the result I came up with. I hope it helps someone, but please remember that these are my own personal opinions. Since the writing would be way too long, you can read the detailed comparisons of these three clays on my blog if you're interested. NOTE: I believe that Prima's re-design Paper Clay has been discontinued. MY TOP CHOICE is "Polyform Model Air Clay". It is the least expensive of the 3 that I tried. Bought 2.2 lb package at Michael's and paid less than $6 incl tax using a 50% off coupon. My blog has comparison details (photos and written) if interested - https://iluvcatsandscraps.blogspot.com/2019/12/comparing-clays-for-use-in-moulds.html
