The Chignon. There are many types of hairstyles that go with wearing the traditional kimono from the very traditional (chignon with various hair clips and accessories) to, what I think is, kind of weird looking (odango-the Japanese word for dumpling). A good hairstylist will also take into account age, face shape, etc. Since we were stationed at the Embassy in Japan, my mom took the opportunity to teach me more about my culture. We got my hair done at a salon specializing in traditional hair, dressed me in a kimono, and visited a nearby shrine.
