Beautiful card!! I love the "burrito"! So cute! It makes a pretty sachet! Your card has me wondering if my lavender plant will make it through this winter. I keep trying to grow them, but it's always a guess to see if they survive the cold at my house. :D
What a wonderful idea, so clever & looks so pretty! I might have to give that a try sometime. Such pretty papers & great buy on the lavender GF! The embossed bg is gorgeous!:)
The other day I ran across a scrapbooking embellishment video featuring a "burrito" technique that I thought was so cute...not new I'm sure, but new to me. I decided to give it a try, which it is quite simple. You make a square of double-sided paper, this one being about 4-1/4" and from a scrap, ink the edges and then fold over like a burrito. You can also do stitching around the edges or stamping or hand stitches. On this one, I just inked the edges and left off the stitches. Anyway, I made a closure (like a belt that slid over the burrito) using the matching paper which is Stamperia's Provence paper collection. I found these beautiful lavender sprigs at Hobby Lobby and they were on sale 50% off so I couldn't pass them up. Before I closed up the burrito, I ran double-sided tape over a thin scrap and glued the sprigs down with that, then closed up the burrito. Added a couple of doilies under that.
The card base is Colorbok and I believe it's called Ombre. I forgot to write that down, so I'm guessing. I ran the entire card through my CTMH Damask folder from Marci (thank you). I have found that when I want to have a card front dry embossed, that one side of it doesn't actually get embossed when it is folded and the top is the only thing in the embossing folder. So this time I put the folded card inside the embossing folder and ran it through. I then sanded down the raised edges to bring out the white. The butterflies are fussy cut from the Provence papers.
I love how this turned out and as a lot of you know lavender (or purples) is my favorite color!
