We enjoyed Valpairso although its been a while since we have been there. They had a very old funicular system which was destroyed in an earthquake or some natural disaster the year after we were on it. Wonder if the one you were on is a completely new one or if they repaired the old one. Looking at your pictures again - this is different. The one we rode on went up the side of a mountain and was really kind of rickety! Not surprised it was damaged. Looks like there is another one or they built another one.
Journaling on the left reads: We spent the second half of this day trip exploring Valparaiso. There was so much to see and do, a few hours were really not enough in this beautiful seaport. 6/18
Journaling on the right reads: Valparaiso is located 75 miles NW of Santiago by road. Built upon dozens of steep hillsides overlooking the Pacific Ocean, Valparaiso is protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Riding in the funicular lifts (steeply inclined carriages) is a must.
