Just loved this pic I took of Garrett on a recent afternoon with my new digital SLR. Journaling reads:
Just another warm day with afternoon hours that seem to stretch forever. We usually head outside so you can ride your bike up and down the sidewalk in front of the house. Juliana sometimes tries to imitate you on her little scootie bike or wanders around while you narrowly avoid running her over. I sit on the front steps and do some busy work like looking over a magazine or cutting out stamps. Occasionally though, I try as hard as I can to simply stop and soak it all in. Store it away in some part of my heart that will remember clearly your made up words and funny little shouts as you ride along. The way you block your sister when she tries to run for the alley, or how you will suddenly stop to watch an ant or pluck a weed just to help me out. How you spin your wheels just for the fun of it, and then pretend you’re stuck and need help. How you greet all strangers with a smile and talk to the bumblebees. It’s then that I realize that each long afternoon is a small, shared treasure.
