Pictures of the ice storm this past week. The top row are photos of the ice and destruction and the bottom row is photos of how we lived during this past week.

Journaling:
We knew the weather was going to be bad, we just didn't have a clue it would be this bad. The storm hit Friday, January 17, 2007 as freezing rain. Some people lost power that night. At one point, about 75,000 homes and businesses were without power in Springfield. We lost our power that Sunday morning...after two days of freezing rain. The first day without power, we cooked on the grill and kept warm by the gas fireplace. The next day, it was too cold...lows around zero so we spent $850 and bought a generator. We were able to power the furnace with it and it was wonderful. We ate dinner by lanters, bathed by candlelight and kept our food cold by keeping it in coolers on the deck...it was so cold outside that the milk froze solid! We were lucky... a lot of people had a lot of damage to their homes and property and were without power for almost a week. We were without power until that Wednesday morning and only had minor tree damage.

*NOTE: The part of this journaling that is now wrong is that people are being told that it is very likely they will be without power for another 7-10 days. So, some will be without power for over 2 weeks if what they are predicting is true.

Thanks for looking!!
