Intro page to our wine tasting experience.

Journaling: While doing research on things to do in Fredericksburg, I came across a website for Texas Hill Country wineries – TexasWineTrail.com. Having heard about Texas wines and having visited wineries in California, we were interested in what Texas had to offer. I found a special - $70 for 2 people for tastings at 44 listed wineries, Dec 1 – 17th called – “Christmas Wine Affair”. What an amazing deal! Tastings at the different wineries can run anywhere between $12 and $20 per person! We could visit up to 4 wineries a day though the most we ever did was 3.
We snapped it up and ordered our tickets online. We had to designate a winery to pick up our passport to use for the tastings. I picked Becker Vineyards. No particular reason – it was close to the RV Park and off Rte. 290 but then several met that criteria. We had no idea there were so many wineries around Fredericksburg and off Rte 290 and not all of them were on our list of 44 that were participating in the wine trail. I went through the list to see where they were located so that I could plan our days. Some were further away – Johnson City, Comfort, Driftwood but still within an easy drive.
We were excited to get started on discovering Texas wines!
