As the expression does, I got to dip my toes in a new technique, or should I say fingers? :)
The inspiration hit for her love of Lilacs. From where I am located in Canada, our winter is cold and our simmer is hot! During those sweet warm months after supper, during our weekly visits to my mother, we stroll down the residential streets heading towards the river, to visit the ducks.
During these walks, we cross multiple Lilac trees along the way. Usually, if there is a little breeze, you can smell them even before you see them. A warm fuzzy memory for me, I will always carry with me.
About the technique: What can I say. LOVE the technique. First attempt at creating something from it. After this small project, I surely can see myself doing more.
I did not use the usual quilling tools that are probably used by most quillers. I found it quite easy to accomplish using a handle of a small crochet hook I have. :) I personally, need to experience the techniques and see it it will become a usual for myself, before I invest in anything related to the craft.
But to be quite forthright, I had such success with the crochet hook, that I do not see myself purchasing and tool or gadget for quilling in the futur. We more often than not ALL have something somewhere that can do these techniques.
