I always love your moon shots. It looks like you just jump in your shuttle and snap a shot out the window. I never got a good look at the Strawberry Moon here.
05 JUN 2020... This month's full moon was known to every Algonquin tribe as the Strawberry Moon. The name comes from the relatively short season for harvesting strawberries in the north-eastern United States. The Taos call it, The Corn Tassel Appear Moon. The Europeans called it the Rose Moon. This name was given for the roses that bloom in late June.
Another old European name for June's full moon is the Mead Moon or the Honey Moon. Mead is a drink made with honey and water fermented by yeast, but it can also be flavored with fruits, spices, grains, and/or hops. The time around the end of June was when honey was ripe and ready to be harvested from man-made hives or from the wild, which made this the ''sweetest'' moon. The word ''honeymoon'' can be traced back to the 1500s in Europe. The tradition of calling the first month of marriage the ''honeymoon'' may be tied to this full moon, either because of the custom of marrying in June or because the Honey Moon is the sweetest moon of the year.
Other names include the Hot Moon for the beginning of the summer heat, Stockman's Moon, Moon of Horses, Planting Moon, Hoe Moon, Lovers' Moon, Strong Sun Moon, and Dyad Moon. Dyad is an old-world term for pair. It is believed the pair refers to the Moon and Sun being of equal importance in June. One of the more interesting names, the Adulterous Moon, comes from the Blackfoot Native American tribe. P6051457
