My father was born in a small town in central Oklahoma. Grandpa worked in the fields and Grandma cooked for the farm hands. When he got old enough, Grandma would give him bus money and the money to pay any bills or pick up things they needed. When he was done, he was allowed a nickel to go to the movies. He would walk home to save the few pennies from the bus fare. He saved them carefully until he could buy his first transistor radio kit. It was the start of his career as an electrical engineer in the rapidly growing electronics field. Radios are his life-long passion.

Photos are mine except for the map. The map is listed on an Oklahoma History site as 1902 but it cannot be as that area was Pickens County, Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory in 1902 not Garvin County OK. OK became a state in 1907, so that is the earliest date possible for this map. Regardless they are both in the public
