the design of your houses is so cute, the photo precious, and journaling is a nice addition. You are so correct, we had a similar problem when we bought this house, but the bank wanted to sell badly and paid the back taxes
It doesn't sound like the house hunting process was very good. I like you scrapped the whole experience - the good with the bad. It showed the struggle not just the good parts. Well done. I like all the clusters houses. That was a lot of fussy cutting!

Don't think I remember seeing that photo. Was this before the house they did buy in Summerville? I love all the little houses...the perfect embellishment for the photo. I had forgotten about the house in Mt. Pleasant...ahhh...memories! Great layout!
You have such a wonderful knack for story-telling through your layouts! I love this design with all of the houses and details and journaling and your creative title work.
What a creative layout this is! Love all those houses along with the great title! Your journaling is fantastic telling the story. I remember Sulphur water living in Fla. before city water, ugh, and we had some type of filtering system to help soften and take away the smell. Like how you put a photo of the house with the bay window on the top.
Journaling reads: When Daddy was transferred to Charleston, SC, we went to look at a house in nearby Summerville. This photo is of me, Mama, and Daddy in back of the first house they found. They had put down earnest money and we were all excited about seeing the new house. It was a brand new house, quite modern for its day and had a bay window overlooking the patio. I was enthralled as this was my first time seeing a bay window. Unfortunately, they found out that the house was just inside the city limits – which meant higher taxes. Since the broker hadn’t shared that bit of information, they were able to get their money back and continue the search for another house. Several years later, they experienced a similar situation when they purchased a house in Mt. Pleasant, only to learn that it had sulfur water. They quickly put it back on the market and sold it… Circa 1970
Some of the houses were cut out by hand and some were die cuts. Other embellies were die cuts. The scallops on the b/w borders and the pink corners were done with scissors. Then I added some doodling with a black pen and added a few pink enamel dots. Thanks for looking :)
