Well, I haven't heard the term "swinking" before. I'll have to give it a try (probably after Christmas). It looks interesting and
very pretty. Thanks for sharing all your cards for inspiration.
I've seen this technique, but not that term... these cards make me say "hmmmmmmmm"..... they are totally gorgeous, with the blends of color in varied patterns!!! Love the embellishments, too.
Oh my I love the bg inking on these great cards! Swinking, that's a new one on me too, but I like it! I love it when I'm just playing around with a new technique, or even an old one. I always love how ink behave's its carefree and has a mind of its own. That's what makes it fun and interesting to play with! Have fun my friend!
I have done some swiping, but often forget about this technique. I never heard it called swinking. Simon Hurley does swiping quite often. Love how your backgrounds and cards turned out!
Have you ever heard of the term "swinking"? Well, I never had until the other day when a YouTube video popped up on my cell phone using ink pads directly to white paper to make interesting backgrounds. I'm pretty sure a lot of you have used this technique, so it's probably not new to you. I had just never heard the term before and what I got out of it was swiping ink on the paper! So, with no pressing projects and just wanting to basically craft, I cut four pieces out of 8-1/2 x 11 paper and played with my Dew Drop Memento Inks as well as some old Rubber Stampede squares of ink that have no color names on them. I made 8 cards all together, this being the first three. Although the gal in the video did a bunch of different designs and techniques, I basically just did this type showing.
So left to right: The Goldfinch bird sticker was from my sweet friend, Marylou and the evergreen diecut from Carri that I embossed with Ranger Verdigris. That you sweet friends. Background is Memento Potter's Clay, Desert Sand and Rhubarb Stalk. Butterfly is from a real picture that I printed and fussy cut out years ago.
Painted Bunting sticker, once again from Marylou. She sent me a sheet of these beautiful stickers some time last year and I thought I would put them to use on these simple cards. Background colors are Memento Rose Bud, Lulu Lavender, VersaMagic Perfect Plumeria and Spring Pansy.
Bouquet card - Memento Lady Bug (from Marci...thank you!), Angel Pink, Rose Bud and Lulu Lavender. The bouquets are old Jolee's Boutique. Clear sticker in the middle is from Hobby Lobby.
