Thank you so much for sharing, it's much appreciated. I will keep experimenting, there are so many different possibilities - part of the fun is to see where it all takes me. I am definitely looking forward to seeing more of your gorgeous cards ;-)
@PDJ, Awe, thank you so much for the positive encouragement. I have been trying to get my local scrapbook store owner to let me teach a class but she is stonewalling me which hits ones confidence.
Anyway, I like the spray stains better than the oxide sprays. In general, I like the ink better than the oxide because the colors are more vibrant. The oxide has a more muted effect which I do like at times. It really depends on the look you want. I have some of both the oxide & ink pads and sprays. Doing an ink first and then spatters of oxide in same color over the ink is a really cool effect as well. I think the oxides are better for blending colors as well and using oxide with a blending foam through a stencil gives a really nice effect. Most of the cards I've done have been with the ink sprays, distress and color bloom, some oxide sprays are used too but to a lesser extent ( mainly for that particular color). I hope that helps.
I am only just getting the hang of using distress oxide inks. So would you recommend the sprays too? I guess you can use them in combination? Anyway, I think your inspriational notes for your daughter are fabulous and she will love them all. I wish you all the very best with your etsy venture, let me know when you're up and running, I'd sure love to purchase some of your beautiful creations! Never stop being creative, you sure have great talent!
@PJD, these cards came about by me trying to learn how to use my new ink sprays that I got of Christmas. I had other stuff on my list and I got a bunch of spray stains, just about all of the ones I had on my wish list. LOL! So, I decided to do the same process working with different color combos to perfect my technique. I wasn't thrilled to have gotten just ink sprays but after working with them to create the first few inspirational cards...well....I ordered like 12 more....yep... Just waiting for the delivery and new color combos will be coming. I have to make about 9 more of the inspirational notes for my daughter's wall display she will be taking to college with her in August. Then I'm thinking of making packages of 4 to sell on my etsy shop.
I love anything raw and industrial and your design looks wonderful! MM is such a great way to express yourself I think - I have mixed results but I keep on trying. I just think there is nothing better to achieve depth, texture and a riot of colours that blend and match in one hit!
@AuntyT you should try again. It is not much harder than doing a traditional card or layout and so much fun. It becomes addictive. If you would like a step by step guide send me DM and I will write one up for you that is super easy to follow and do.
Mixed media card: This one was to have an industrial look or vibe to it. Again, I used the ink pads and a water brush to add color since I didn't have the spray stains in these distress colors. The brown is gathered twigs distress crayon watered down with water brush.
