Each year we order a special traditional New Year tiered box of delicacies prepared by one of DC's top Japanese restaurants. Our own family tradition includes my mom's clam consommé, which sounds just like clams dumped in some water but it's not. The flavor is very delicate with just a whisper of lemon from the fine zest.

Part of the journaling is in the circle bit (the ribbon pulls it out). 2019 is the Chinese year of the pig; hence, the little pig sticker.
