Beautiful shot of rustic farmland. I love these kinds of shots since they set the imagination going---how long was that post there? Why is the wire there?
Connor and I walked out to the pond a few weeks ago; on our way back, I took this photo. I like weathered, rustic-looking scenes, and I couldn't resist this one. As I was downloading the pictures, I noticed the Simcoe Mountains in the far background. They are physically a lot closer than they appear in this shot, probably less than five miles ''as the crow flies''.
Here's a little history about the mountains:
The Simcoe Mountains are a mountain range located in Klickitat County and Yakima County, Washington. Being mostly within the Yakama Indian Reservation, the mountains are between Goldendale and Toppenish. The Simcoe's, a volcanic field, is made up of a group of basaltic lava flows and extinct cinder cones. The area is roughly 1,000 square miles, about 47 miles north to south and 49 miles east to west. The highest peak is Indian Rock at 5823 ft. P3034945
