I love the old graveyards like this Tammy. Every time we see one I have to get out and walk around and take pictures. This one is a real gem! I learned that a graveyard has a church (which this one does) and a cemetery does not or never has had a church. I thought that was interesting! This graveyard, I would love to explore it! I hope you do another page with more info on the history! Very beautiful pages Tammy!
some very old hoarded papers - some from 2003, 2008 and inbetween. This is 5 mins drive from my house. Many graves from the 1500s, 1600s, 1700 and 1800s. Legend (and some documents from the 1500s) say that St Machan himself is buried here. the church (loer right) being build over his grave. the building on the left is the family burial vault of the Kincaid Lennox families. The graveyard is also home to a martyred covenanter so perhaps I will do a page about that.
