Fabulous photos and design, love the leaves and torn edges...I don't like snakes but they don't scare me like spiders do. Like you I have a huge phobia of spiders (any kind of spider) and will never attempt to photograph or scrap about them. Maybe about how fast I got away from one :}
You keep outdoing yourself when it comes to creativity. The leaves look so 3D and the greens just bring out the gorgeous color of the snake. And I just realized (after looking and looking) that the green leaf is a 3D embossed piece. Wowza!
Such a great job on this layout, all the papers and colors really work together and that snake is so colorful! I don't mind snakes too much, as long as I don't have to handle one with my bare hands! I found a box of grass in my daughter's closet once and wondered why it was there, found out a few weeks later she had brought a garter snake into the house (our cat found it hidden in another closet) so I picked it up with a pair of kitchen tongs and took it outside. Didn't tell my husband about it until much later as he hates snakes!
I should have guessed that snakes are not everyone's favourite, I do apologise if I scared the pants off some of you with this LO! I happen to like snakes, but then I do not have to live with dangerous ones like your rattlers, Cottonmouths etc. Our only venomous snake in the UK is the Adder (or Adder Snake, also known as Common Viper) which grows up to 3' long and only strikes when antagonised or threatened. To the average, healthy human it does not pose a deadly threat. Just to let you know, I was thinking of doing another page, using photos of the green Rhinoceros Ratsnake. It has a rhino horn for its nose, it is nonvenomous, but it is a snake, so you might want to "overlook" that LO. - @AuntyT: Thanks for the tip, I had a look and read up about the Hognose, and I like that one!!! - I, myself, have a phobia of spiders! But I did photograph a Red Knee Tarantula and will attempt to do a LO...........
I had just seen the beautiful layout you did of your garden flowers and thought this was a continuation - thought the snake was in your garden! Glad there was glass between you and the snake. I'm terrified of snakes if I see one I have nightmares, waking up during the night thinking one is under my bed or even under the covers. After seeing a snake outside I hesitate opening drawers and cabinet for fear of one lurking! Terrified! My mother used to do a lot of mending - not so much anymore. She's 92 and rarely sews at all anymore. But she has a big laundry basket in the laundry in her house that she adds mending to when something rips or needs a button. Fortunately she neglected the mending basket for many years and let it sit next to the washing machine. Then a few years ago she brought it in to catch up on her mending and found a 7' rattlesnake skin. A rattlesnake got in, hibernated all winter, shed his skin and left. I just thank God she didn't take her mending basket in the living room to do some hand mending while that snake was in there hibernating. Can't stand snakes!
Good shots, you can see the "eyelashes". Cool looking snake, the yellow is striking! Great layout, wonderful colors to complement the viper! (if you want to see a fun looking snake, look up the western hognose, it's got the cutest little upturned nose)
The warm weather and glorious sunshine tempted us outside yesterday, and we decided to spend the day in the Cotswolds Wildlife Park. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. I saw the cute otters again and happily snapped away, capturing flora and fauna. I never tire of visiting the park and watching the animals in the beautiful surroundings.
In the reptile house I soon found a fascinating subject: this eyelash viper. It was basking under a heat lamp close to the glass window and I managed to get a couple of good shots without the glass reflecting too much.
