This must be my favourite favourite of all your LOs! So beautifully done! Your gorgeous MM background, the subtle stencilling and highlights, the firework sparkles and your patriotic flag! I love how the torn vellum softens the photo and helps it blend into the background. What an outstanding and precious tribute to your granddad!

Actually, it is missing 3 stars, because in 1949 here were only 48 states. I remember only because my mother offered me my Grandfather's 48 star flag. Not a criticism, just information. Your flag is beautiful, as is the patriotic page. Well done!

After my grandmother was widowed (another layout on that), she became a wartime pen pal. She and John S. Trojanowski struck a friendship and when he returned from the Army, he courted her and they eventually married.

OH! And, yes, I know the flag is missing 5 stars. The photo scrap with writing on it is my grandpa's “journaling”, written on the bottom of the photo he sent to my grandma.
