When I was a young child, back in the 60’s, my parents took us up several times to stay in the Smith Creek Cottages at Unicoi State Park. Staying in a cottage was as near as Mama would get to “camping”. Mama and Daddy would take us to Unicoi Lake to swim and it would be so crowded with kids and their parents. So naturally, when we had kids, our favorite vacation spot was Unicoi, only we went camping… tent camping (a tent site is much cheaper than a cabin). We would drive the three to four hours from Griffin up to north Georgia to the mountains, through the town of Helen, to Unicoi. Our favorite spot to camp was on the side of a big hill.

This particular year Jerry and I decided to take the kids over to Lake Unicoi to go swimming. We had the lake all to ourselves on this day … so different from my childhood memories. Anyway, the kids had a good time splashing around in that nasty, murky lake water. I’m sure our next stop was at the campground showers to clean up. LOL!

The pine cones and branches on the edges were fussy cut from Authentique's Rustic collection. The picture and word cards are also from that set. The photos are not the best quality, but it is what it is. Back then I didn't have a camera with a zoom lens LOL! The little rub on tent, swimmer, and mosquito are from Moxxie's Roughing It Icons. Thanks so much for stopping by :)
