USS Mt. Hood Survivors

Just before the USS Mount Hood exploded, 18 crewmen had left the ship for shore leave. Im not sure where the small flag came from but it was with the envelope that contained the telegram my grandmother received of her husbands death and another envelope. The second envelope contained a first-person account of the tragedy (this is a photo of the envelope). It looks like my grandmothers handwriting, noting the name of the survivor who provided the narrative. The photo of the survivors is a copy of the Navys official photograph.
