What a fun page! I love the framing and the little spoon embellishments are too cute! My mom and I never could cook together, she doesn't have patience with my slow attempts at it. She's tried. I did once successfully make a roast. I do need to learn how to make verenika (spellings vary) though.
I had to look up the recipe. My husband loves Eggs Benedict, so I bet he would like this. Since our last name is Hunziker, it would be doubly appropriate. Looks delicious! So glad you and your mother could enjoy good food and memories!
Fabulous page! The red, black, yellow, red colors are perfect together! Love the triple red frame and the spoons! All fussy cuts are greatly done! The BW photos are amazing!
There's something about hanging out in the kitchen that just sparks conversations and happy memories. I've been doing the same with my parents and jotting down recipes and their favorite dishes so I can surprise them. Love that you got to spend such quality time with your mom AND cook up some tasty dishes. I've never heard of mustard eggs so off to do some research!
This is so special! My mother is 93 and even though she still owns her own business and works full time, but she lives along and hasn't cooked much since daddy died in 1992 so she doesn't make any of the things we grew up with. When I ask her how to make something we used to love she just says, "I don't remember, I haven't cooked in so long except little things for myself, I have no idea how I made that." So disappointing. So nice that your mother is cooking these old favorites of yours! Looks so good - love the page. The color combination is perfect together and I love the red overlapping frames! The black and white pictures give it a really special vintage look!
The yellow gingham/checked background gives the entire lo a homey, warm and inviting look. Perfect for the photos and subject matter. Love the red frames and all the fussy cutting.
First of all I would like to THANK YOU ALL for your warm and uplifting messages and welcoming me back!
This is another LO about cooking and food using my favourite Reminisce papers, Love At First Bite. I found those dinky metal spoons in an art shop in Germany. They sold a lot of scrapbooking bits, so I also purchased the metal die that cut the red triple frame.
While I was at my Mum's, we made a few dishes I remember from my childhood. My Mum used them to teach me how to cook. We had fun preparing them together and remembering times gone by. All the disasters that were totally inedible, and the successful dishes that were tasty and delicious. This was one of them and I still love it!
