My family too has just lost our pet at the tender age of 3 1/2 years. While he was a very tempermental cocker spaniel, I was more attached than I realized. Acute kidney failure over the course of just 4 days left us with no alternative but to have him put to sleep. We are still in shock and I'm lost in our house without him as he took every step I did. I've been thinking of a memorial layout for him but wasn't sure until I say this one to Percy. Thanks for the inspiration and I'm so sorry for you loss.
He was very lucky to have you all. This is a beautiful layout. I work at a Vet's also and Akida29 is right, even though it the right thing, it is also one of the hardest.
My condolences to you. He was very lucky to have had owners who were able to make this hard decision based on what was best for him. You have made a wonderful tribute to him. I used to work in a vet clinic, and it is never an easy thing, even when it's the right thing.
Wednesday was a very sad day at our house. We had to make the difficult decision to put our puppy down (he was only 1 1/2). He had really bad hips and each day he seemed to get worse with walking, laying down, getting up. He didnt seem to be in pain, but it was noticibly worse. We took him to the vet today, and while expensive hip replacement surgery was mentioned, the vet recommended putting him down since it would continue to get worse, plus the unpredictibility of a hurting puppy mixed with 3 hyper kids--could put the dog and the kids at risk for more injury.
Journaling Reads We adopted Percy on August 22, 2005 after we discovered that his mom had been hit & killed by a car when he & the other 9 puppies were just 10 days old. The family who had these puppies bottle fed them all until they were able to lap puppy formula from a bowl. When we first brought him home, he was so tiny and lived in a box. We fed him a bottle for a couple of days, then he figured out how to drink from a bowl & eat soft puppy food--he was the messiest eater! Even after he got a little older and could eat without spilling, he slurped up his water so fast--the floor was always soaked!
Not too long after Percy’s first birthday, we found out that he had severe hip dysplasia. After several months of his health getting worse, we had to make a very hard decision.
Today, Percy joined Grandpa in Heaven.
We’ll miss you Percy! You will always be part of our Family!
