The first cards I made were the last two shown here. I used DMC Coton Perlé, Size 5, on the first card, #5, and I couldn't understand why the holes broke open so that the threads didn't stay put. A friend pointed out that the Size 5 thread might be too thick. I grabbed what I thought were Size 8 balls of thread and tried them on Card #4, but it still didn't work. When I double-checked, Id used Size 5 balls. (I thought all the balls were size 8!)
I liked the colors of the DMC Coton Perlé Variations floss so I bought some regular DMC Variations 6-ply floss. I used three strands on Cards #2 and #3. I also used DMC Coton Perlé, Size 8, on Card #3. You can see that made a huge difference. BTW, Spellbinders recommends using two strands of 6-ply floss on its die-cuts.
