"Life Aboard Typhoon"

Typhoon is a 24' vintage wooden sailboat. She was built in the 1930s by Winthrop Warner, a noteworthy naval architect. She was hull #1 and, to the best of our knowledge, was the only actual sailboat anyone ever constructed from the original plans -- although we have seen the original plans for Typhoon for sale in various places around the internet. Someone could theoretically build another boat like her from the plans. But, the truth is, most people now want fiberglass boats and are scared of wooden boats.

We weren't scared of a wooden boat. She is truly an amazing vessel. We cruised the California coast aboard Typhoon from 2010ish to summer of 2012. This is a picture of her moored in Avalon Harbor, which is at Catalina Island off the coast of Los Angeles.

I'm planning to make this layout the title page in a 6" x 8" mini album documenting the pictures we took and the adventures we had at that time. I estimate it'll probably take me about 3 albums to hold all of the best pics we have from that time period. I have my work cut out for me...

I stamped all the text you see on this page. The larger text is from a Heidi Swapp stamp set. The smaller text is from an old wood-mounted PSX stamp set that has been discontinued for more than a decade. I stamped the smaller text and then stenciled it with a circle stencil, although in hindsight, I wish I had used a square stencil. I ordered one to use on future layouts but don't have it yet.

The larger text, I fussy cut around using scissors.

I'm happy to be back ashore now. That said, reading the text on the patterned paper by Graphic 45 gives me wanderlust all over again. It has phrases like "Chase the wind, Adventure Awaits, Get Lost Together, Touch the Sky"...Whenever I look at it, my heart wants to take wings and get started on another adventure.
