I found an old letter box at goodwill and used brown tissue paper for the background. I layered a gothic scrapbook page over the tissue background and cut out a frame for the ladies to sit in front of so the background would be revealed.
I used a wash on the old key and a bit of Tim Holtz oxide ink in cracked pistachio. Just a little bit. Then sprayed it with spray mod podge seal. It gives it a cool effect when it runs and mixes with it.
You will also see the cracked pistachio on the words near the bottom and on the edges of things to blend them in. I also used the Tim Holtz oxide ink pad in Vintage photo and Victorian Velvet to blend out things to look more aged and give a little color.

I gave several pieces in this a faux Patina treatment with the Funky Cold Patina embossing powder by Andy Skinner. I used rub and buff wax to get the coppery effects.
The outside edges have Tim Holtz crackle texture paint and a little of the oxide inks rubbed on to tone down the white and give a more aged look.
