So, this is my dog, Shamus. I took this photo of him some years ago, and I've always joked he seemed to me as if he was auditioning for a part in the "Phantom of the Opera" Broadway play - you know, that little bit of mask around the eye and... yeah, anyway...

I had the photo made into postcards so I could send them to members of a group I was in - we wrote only with fountain pens and traded "analog" correspondence. I still only write with fountain pens, as they are much, much easier on my poor arthritic hands than the ballpoint or roller ball "death grip." I digress...

Shamus has been coming up in conversation recently, and I thought about this photo. I wondered if I could incorporate it into a card. So, I grabbed one of my old postcards, and set about trying. This is the result. It is an odd sized card and I will need to make my own envelope, as I designed the card around the size of the postcard. The final dimensions of the card make it 5-3/8 inches by 6-5/8 inches. Oh, I had fun shaving off slivers of paper here and there!

The reason I chose blue papers for the background is because in the picture, Shamus is wearing a blue "mom shirt" (to keep him from chewing and licking a hot spot after going to the vet), and a small bit of the blue in the lower left corner matched almost exact with the brighter blue in the main pattern paper.

I also had to figure out a sentiment. Of course, nothing in my vast stash of stamps would do, so the cheesy sentiment inside is my own, printed on my standard 24lb multipurpose inkjet/laser paper from my $50 bargain sale printer. Eh, it worked. Fonts were Papyrus and French Script.

The other supplies used are from Stampin' Up!: White cardstock, Beauty of the Earth and Sun Prints designer papers, Seaside Spray (ret.) ribbon, and Pastel Pearls (ret.).
