I LOVED making this one! Thanks for the challenge. It kinda works for the other "tell how you met" challenge too...hmmm.

My DH and I were casual friends, then got to know each other better through emails and chatting online. We started dating while he was in Mexico and I was in Wisconsin! Six weeks later, we had our first real date when he came to visit me.

I did so much on this layout I can hardly remember what came first. I think I was inspired by making the satin pocket with the polka dot paper. I figured out how to do the stitches (found curvier ones, added drop shadow, then burned the fabric where the stitch entered it). The photo on top of the pocket is blended (luminosity) with the pink. Then I smudged the edges until it blended the way I liked. I blurred and then watercolored the b/w background of the large photo. I recolored most of the doodles. The reason the tape is in the upper right of the photo is because it's more like me to have lost an embellishment and slap a piece of tape on it to keep it together!

The fun thing is that I found out how to do almost all of this just by reading the tutorials and message boards the last few days. This place is such a great resource!

(the color on this one looks a LOT different than what I have in my .psd file...not sure what happened to make it "off." It's not supposed to be this bright/saturated.)

Journaling Reads:
"This park (Burke Park) is where we had our first date. It was the first time I leaned my head against your shoulder. The first time you put your arm around me. The first time we held hands. It was like a dream--the bridge over the pond, climbing the hill, leaning against the tree, and listening to the summer birds. Just like our "chat adventures." A perfect place for our engagement photos!" (the pictures are by my sister, who took them a year later when she designed our wedding invitation)

The to-do list says stuff about getting a picnic ready, ordering a beautiful sunset, etc...plus some fun doodles.
