Pottered around in the garden for a bit and spotted the perfect subject for challenge #5 - White.
This is my ornamental sage called "Hot Lips". According to gardening books there is a definite cycle of flower colours to be expected in June (pink and white), July (pink only) and August (white only). But I am not convinced they have explained this to the sage plant, because mine looks splendid already, carrying all colour combinations.
Are the ornamental sage leaves eatable? Opinions are divided, we have tried some in our salad and live to tell the tale, but my neighbour who is a knowledgeable gardener advised us against it. I am just grateful that this lovely plant is healthy and keeps surprising us with a mix of vivid colour combinations and that distinctive sage scent.
