I'm finding out just how much I don't know about old west. I had no idea they drove the cattle that far! I always thought the ranchers had a lot of property but that it didn't always join and so cattle sometimes had to be drive from one area to another but I didn't realize the distances were that great. We had to pull to the side of the road (Wyoming I think) for a cattle drive to get through but we were told they moved them from one location to another (not too far away) to get them in different pastures in different seasons. Makes sense they were driving them to establish new ranches.
