Hi There! Even though I print my photos with a white border, I think matting pictures is a great idea on a scrapbook layout. Normally I mat my images on a rectangle, but this time I decided to try something different.
I love how banners look on a scrapbook layout, so I decided to make two very large ones for this layout. One to use as a photo mat, and the other for my journaling and title. Love how the layout turned out.
My photos are 3x4, so I cut a strip of scrapbook paper 4 ½ wide. After attaching all my photos I cut the flag end by marking the center of the banner (2 ¼ in my case), then cutting from the corner to the mark. Used the same technique to make the journaling and title banner, but its a bit thinner.
Banners are a fun alternative to rectangle mats, and I think they look great.
